Hair tips 101
Step 1: Washing Your Raw Hair Extensions
Proper washing is key to preserving the integrity and natural beauty of raw hair.
How Often to Wash:
- Every 7–14 days, or when hair feels heavy or has product buildup.
Washing Tips:
- Detangle thoroughly with a wide-tooth comb or brush before getting hair wet.
- Use lukewarm water and a sulfate-free, alcohol-free shampoo to prevent drying the hair out.
- Apply shampoo in a downward motion—avoid scrubbing or bunching the hair together.
- Follow with a moisturizing conditioner, focusing on the mid-shaft to ends.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow hair to air dry or use a blow-dryer with a diffuser on low heat.
Step 2: Deep Conditioning for Longevity
Raw hair doesn’t benefit from your scalp’s natural oils, so deep conditioning is essential to replenish moisture.
How to Deep Condition:
- Apply a rich deep conditioner or hair mask generously throughout the hair.
- Cover with a plastic cap and let sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour. For best results, apply gentle heat (e.g., a hooded dryer or warm towel wrap).
- Rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle and enhance shine.
Repeat every 2–4 weeks or as needed based on hair texture and climate.
Step 3: Styling Tips
Styling your raw hair extensions correctly helps maintain the hair’s integrity and appearance.
Heat Styling:
- Use flat irons, curling wands, or blow dryers on low to medium heat only.
- Always apply a heat protectant spray or serum before using hot tools.
- Limit heat styling to avoid long-term damage or dryness.
Product Use:
- Use light, alcohol-free products (e.g., leave-in conditioner, lightweight oils).
- Avoid heavy creams, gels, or products with silicone—they can cause buildup and weigh hair down.
Coloring or Bleaching:
- Raw hair can be dyed or bleached. However, we strongly recommend using a professional colorist to prevent damage.
Step 4: Nighttime Routine
Protecting your hair at night prevents tangles, breakage, and dryness.
Night Care Tips:
- Always tie your hair up in a loose braid or twist before bed.
- Wear a satin or silk bonnet, scarf, or sleep on a silk pillowcase.
- Avoid cotton materials—they absorb moisture and cause friction.
Step 5: Detangling the Right Way
Regular, gentle detangling helps maintain a smooth and polished look.
Detangling Tips:
- Detangle daily or every few days, depending on how often the hair is worn.
- Always start from the ends and work your way up to the roots.
- Use a wide-tooth comb, paddle brush, or fingers.
- Detangle only when hair is slightly damp or conditioned—not dry.
